Quinta dos Carqueijais

The Gold Museum of Travassos was inaugurated on March 3, 2001 and is the result of a process of appreciation and dignity of the gold’s artisan work. The project of the Gold Museum dates back to the eighties, but it assumed a more active way since 1993.

Since then it has been promoting a range of activities such as exhibitions, editions of brochures, guided tours and work with schools in the municipality of Póvoa de Lanhoso.

The public opening of the Gold Museum of Travassos relates to the fact that this town still has a significant number of artisanal workshops in operation and architectural remains of many others.
