The perfect date with nature
Castelo de Bouro or Covide - extends to the plains and hilltops of the memorable and historic Sierra of Santa Isabel. Its route of 16,376 meters, reaches an altimetry quota of 990 meters and is of medium difficulty of degree, by unique paths, flanked by the mountain massif of Amarela and Gerês. Along its route the organizational arrangements of the natural and built landscape coming from medieval times are remarkably presented. No wonder the natural clash with everything appears in its place. Here the Man still hasn’t destroyed!
The Trail of Castelo covers the territory of three parishes: Sta. Isabel, Chamoim and Covide. Its path presents two starting points:
1.Church of Santa Isabel do Monte to Monte do Castelo;
2. Lugar do Calvário, in Covide, to Monte Castelo.
This way, the pedestrian or visitor has two options to hike the Trail of Castelo: the first, longer, enables a direct contact with the rural architectural wealth, with the community and agro-forest-pastoral tradition of the parish of Sta Isabel and the second, shorter, you can contemplate the natural landscape and the Castelo de Covide.
