Quinta dos Carqueijais

The Trail of Miradouros, a footpath of short route (SR) of ecological and landscape context, has a length of about 9 km. It is estimated that the time required for the journey is 5 hours, with the assigned degree of difficulty from medium to high, with very rugged terrain, in areas of ridge and upland, steep slopes and narrow valleys, so that some spots of the the route require special care to the pedestrian. Its layout is located almost exclusively in the western slope of the valley of the river Gerês. Its most extreme limits, east and west, respectively are the village of Caldas do Gerês, the upland areas located in Lamas and curves of S. Bento.

The Trail of Miradouros offers to visit many of the 'granite bollards' the viewpoints of Sierra Gerês - entangled stories, especially A Fraga Negra, A Boneca, Os Mirantes Velho e Novo and the Penedo da Freira. From these locations we catch a glimpse of the landscaped horizon of unparalleled natural beauty.
